Most Kentucky divorces seem to happen after a couple has irreconcilable differences over children, money or life goals. In one online forum, however, some divorce lawyers have revealed that many spouses split up for much more trivial reasons. Sometimes, the marriages are not even a day old when one spouse decides to separate.
This was the case when a man got into an argument with his new in-laws at the wedding and moved out the next day at 5 a.m. One woman decided to divorce her husband when he got drunk at the wedding; although, she did wait until after the honeymoon, which she enjoyed on her own. Yet another couple made it for two months before the woman filed for divorce after her husband’s birthday gift turned out not to be the expensive jewelry she hoped for.
Other couples might spend more time together but cite equally bizarre reasons for breaking up. One man was convinced his wife was trying to curse him while another said he couldn’t stand eating with his wife any longer because of her loud chewing. A woman divorced her husband when he gave her a dog who was not house-trained.
Even couples who divorce for what appear to be strange or trivial reasons may have underlying issues that lead to the rift. In some cases, those issues may come into the divorce negotiations. For example, if spouses often fight about how to raise their children, they might not be able to reach an agreement about child custody.
